Well, we drove down the Delta to Greenville, MS and Claire was accepted into the Future Champions 2 Day Tourney. It was probably the most well organized tournament Claire has even played in....shuttles, free practice rounds, free swag, banquet complete with door prizes that were amazing, and volunteers everywhere. Claire had a rought first day figuring out the course and greens, but made corrections on day 2 and shot a personal best of 76!!! She moved up that scoreboard considerably. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough to win due to her first day, but we were overwhelmed with her progress. Her putting has turned a corner...now to really work on distance....
They had real scoreboards like at PGA events.
Sweet Jesse sent me flowers (he's away at his internship) because the weekend he come to visit, he brought with him a very nasty case of Covid with high fever. So, as a mom would do, I took care of him and these were a sweet suprise!
So, a day before we left for Greenville, we got a call that Claire had a spot in the PGA Girls Championship in Murfreesboro, TN the day after the MS tourney! So Claire slept in the car and we arrived in Murfessboro for Claire's 2 nd tournament with no break whatsoever. She had a 8am tee time on day 1 and shot an 80 on a really long Old Fort Course. We were so pleased!!
The most beautiful and wonderfully smelling tree I've ever seen.
A former SBA golf standout and Belmont Golfer Meribeth! Claire was tickled to see her! She worked the TN tourney
These girls from all over TN love seeing each other at these tournaments...it's like a reunion. So Claire played Malerie from Knoxville, TN early in the spring and they were tickled to see each other! They have birthdays one week apart !
She finished 13 out of 23. 23 of the best in very Tennessee. Many were graduated and headed to college golf. Of course she was the smallest as usual. She is hoping for a better place next year...go Claire go!
