A literal Whirlwind of a week!

Well, the huge TGA Junior Am 54 hole 3 Day  was at Spring Creek Ranch in Collierville Reserve Tue-Thurs with practice rounds on Monday.  A storm from hell decided to come upon Memphis and mainly Bartlett Sunday night and we had no power for most for the week...and oh...it was in the high 90's!

We quickly decided to let Claire and Gretchen sleep at her parents house in East Memphis (who had power) during the tourney and let Lance watch over the house at night and sleep in the heat.  We finally have power back and have replenished most of our lost food.   It's been a week! THe Junior Am was 50 of the top TN girls and Claire battled it out and get 24th.  75-83-81.   Rouch rough rough course.   But she hung in there and had some putting issues, but she will correct that.  Proud of her...and she got to see all her TN golf friends in one place!!

The girls call themselves the "shorties" and are beasts of golfers.  Love this!

This is one of the fancy "comfort stations" on the Spring Creek Course that has toilets, snacks, towels, chairs etc.... and huge tree just crashed it to pieces....

Cres were sawing trees from all the cart paths Monday am while all the 150 kids did their practice rounds.  Not one person was hurt in this strrm than God!

Claire battled it out these past 2 days at Mirimichi, which is so very tough, for the win!  Claire won the 16-18 year old Masters Division shooting 77/77.  Go Claire Go!

Claire lights it up at Franklin Bridge!

Well, competitive travel golf is in full swing and I took Claire to this one  in Franklin, TN sans Lance.  Apparantly he has to work sometimes.  Well, she had a phenomenal practice round and of course she was in a cart, and listening to music and no pressure.  So, the next day was day 1 of the tourney and she shot a 73!  We were so proud...she followed it up on day 2 with a 74!   She played amazing golf, and had confidence in her swing and game and it showed.  She was paired yesterday in the leader group and those wee 2 of the best girls in TN.  Way to go Claire!

The is the last hole on the course and has an island green.  Island greens make me so nervous.  She birdied it on the first tourney day and parred it on the second!

After playing 6 holes and then being shuttled in for a 2.5 hour rain delay, Claire was exhausted when we finihsed up at 7pm!

I have entered my 5th Decade......

Well, Lance and Claire planned the most lovely 50th Dinner Party along with the help of my friend Amy last night!  It was held at one of my favorites...Pete and Sam's.  It was delightful every step of the way!  There was Gretchen trivia and presents for the winners!  Lots of pictures and my favorie girlfriends and their husbands were there along with our parents!  Jesse is in Michigan, but Emily and her famil came, and we will see Jesse in just a few weeks!

I plan to rock my 50's, just as I did my 40's!  I am blessed to have all these people in my life!

 

Greenville, MS, Chapel Hill, and Toronto!!!

Well, it has been a whirlwind of the past 5 days with 5 solid days of 90 degree golf. Claire has gotten so much better over the off season and we are soooo proud.  She has gained 5 pounds of muscle and her drives are going 220 now! That translated to lower scores at both 2 big tournaments that she just completed! Her score are now consecutively in the 70's now!  Claire traveled Friday to Greenville for the huge Future Tour Champions Tour and had an absolute blast.  It's become her favorite annual tourney.  The people are nice, they throw a banquet, and they just treat the kids like pros.  She tied for 5th (lost a scorecard playoff) out of 30 and had some seriously good competition.  She met new friends from all over and just had a blast.  She played in the brutal heat Saturday and Sunday. We drove all night and let her sleep  and arrived for the huge TGA Girls Junior Championship at 1:30 am Monday.  Her tee time was 8:50......

Day 1 of the PGA Championships.  Claire was tired but focused and ready.  She knew the best girls of TN were in this one and most were already signed collge golfers.  She was at a huge disadvantage because of no practce roud she she was playin Greenville the afternoon before.  Anyway, she battled it out and shot 80/78 to end up in the middle of the pack! She was pleased and has high expectations for next year!

Claire has become friends with a Knoxville golfer named Mallery and they just love it when they play in the same tournaments! they were able to catch up and have dinner together Monday night!

Emily flew to Northville Michigan to see Jesse for a small vacation and they took a trip to Toronto!  They had a blast and loved it so much!!
